BUSTLING BANGKOK
The Thai capital, known to locals as Krung Thep, the ‘City of Angels’, is famed for its stunning street foods, floating markets and Buddhist temples. Old meets new in terms of infrastructure; temples blend with modern shopping malls, bright neon lights and stylish modern hotels.
Chao Phraya river bends its way through the city, filled with boats, floating markets and riverbank Temples. Wat Arun, perched on the banks of Chao Phraya River is a must see. Known locally as the ‘Temple of Dawn’ it stands proud and dominant, its colourful spires glistening on the waters. Take a riverboat at sunset to view it in all its splendour.

What places should I visit in Bangkok?
Cross the river and visit Wat Pho, the grounds of which cover an impressive eight hectares. This old temple is home to the famous reclining Buddha and more than 1000 Buddha images. In 1955, a school for traditional medicine and massage was set up, therefore Wat Pho is unusually considered the best place to receive a traditional Thai massage. Book ahead to avoid disappointment!
If you are looking for some unusual infrastructure, look out for the Elephant Building or ‘Chang Building’ resembling an elephant, the national symbol of Thailand.
You will be spoilt for choice with food in Bangkok; options vary with stunning street food or fancy restaurants, both offering amazing quality with fresh ingredients and fragrant spices. Why not visit a Thai Cookery school?
Bangkok’s markets are on most peoples' wish lists with a visit to Thailand. With plenty to choose from, including 'Chatuchk' weekend market or a popular floating market, make sure you leave plenty of space in your suitcase.
Bangkok’s Chinatown is one of the largest and most vibrant in the world. Follow the crowds or get lost in the hustle and bustle. After dark, head to Yaowarat Road and sample some of the best food around.
Relax in the evening and visit the popular rooftop bar ‘Lebua Sky Bar’. Set on the 63rd floor, this bar offers 360-degree views over the city and Chao Phraya River.
Visit Banglamphu district with a distinct Bohemian feel. This old quarter is filled with antiques, vendor carts, and live music and art's scene.
For a vibrant party scene visit Sukhumvit!
