Chiang Mai is known as the best place for ethical elephant interactions. Thai Elephant Care centre provides care for elderly elephants who are retired from logging camps or elephant shows. Watch them from a distance or help out at bath time and feed time.

Mae Rim and Chiang Dao are easily accessible, and provide nature reserves, reservoirs and caves to explore.
