WHY VISIT TINOS?
1. Hiking
Tinos has 10 historical footpaths which extend to 63 km, linking beautiful villages with the coast. These routes have been in use for 100’s of years. Hike up to Exombourgo at 643m, for stunning views and ruins of a Venetian fortress.
2. Swimming & gorgeous beaches
Tinos has some of the best beaches in the Cyclades. Kolimbithra in the north is long and sandy and popular with surfers. In the south, Agios Sostis has a long beach while Porto has a sandy cove. Agios Fokas is one of the loveliest beaches on the island, with tourist facilities and excellent swimming.
3. Picturesque villages
More than 50 unspoilt villages are scattered all over the island, displaying traditional white cubist architecture. Pyrgos is very beautiful, with its famous marble sculptures and school. These sculpting skills are evident throughout the island. There are also 100’s of ornate dovecotes around the island...the doves used to part of the islanders’ diet and their droppings used as fertiliser! In the countryside, look out for the traditional stone terraces used to enable farming on the steep slopes.
4. Food and drink
The island is quickly gaining a reputation as a food destination...the island boasts fresh local fare: mastelo local cheese, fourtalia omelettes, grilled and fresh fish, locally made sausages, freshly picked tomatoes and artichokes, foraged mountain herbs. Local wines are also making a resurgence.

5. Religious sites
Tinos is the holiest island in Greece, with hundreds of churches. Many Greeks climb from the port on their hands and knees to ‘the Lady of Tinos’ icon, in the Church of the Annunciation in the capital Hora. It is very busy on the healing days, which are 25th March and 15th August.
Only a half hour ferry ride from MYKONOS, which has its own international airport, Tinos is the ideal location to spend a relaxing holiday or to island hop to other islands. Begin your holiday to The Cyclades.
