WHICH AZORES ISLAND SHOULD I VISIT?
SAO MIGUEL
The largest island with the main tourist airport. There are many hiking trails...Salto do Prego is an easy hike through jungle, with a waterfall and swimming area below. Head to the lagoons of Sete Citades and Fogo and seek out geysers and volcanic lakes.
Terra Nostra Park is a fascinating botanical garden with thermal baths and beautiful views. This green island also boasts 2 golf courses. Sample ‘Cozido das Furnas,’ a meat and vegetable stew slowly cooked underground for 7 hours and sample tea from Europe’s oldest tea plantation.
SANTA MARIA
Third smallest and sunniest with various beaches and tidal pools to swim in. Beach fishing, spear fishing, big game fishing, diving and paragliding are all available.
TERCEIRA
Third biggest island and location of the Azore’s oldest city, Angra do Heroismo, a UNESCO world heritage site. Climb Mount Brasil with its amazing views and descend into the extinct lava tube, Algar do Carvao.

SAO JORGE
