WHY VISIT LAS VEGAS?
Casinos, entertainment, shopping & food
It has some of the largest hotels and casinos in the world, located along the famous 6km Strip. The Bellagio, built in 1998, is probably the most spectacular and the free musical fountain displays are sensational.
For those seeking night clubs, rooftop bars and pools, theatre and ‘A’ list performers ranging from Lady Gaga to Michael Buble, Las Vegas is the place to go. Shopping opportunities are endless and there are artistic displays, galleries and spas to explore. We went on a helicopter ride at night over the bright lights of The Strip…unforgettable!
There are a wide choice of food and drink venues to suit all budgets and many fine dining establishments with celebrity chefs. Freemont Street in Downtown Las Vegas is unmissable and the original birthplace of the city. There are free live music shows, a wide range of gambling establishments, an exhilarating zip line over the street and even a Mob Museum!
Do You Want To Explore Further Afield?
Hire a car or join an escorted tour to take in some of the splendours around Las Vegas and drive back to Los Angeles.
The magnificent Hoover Dam, constructed in 1928 on the Colorado River, is the most visited dam in the world. Why not try a bit of ‘time travelling’ over Arizona and Nevada states, as we did when we crossed it!
Lake Mead Recreational Park offers swimming, boating, cycling, fishing and jet skiing against a spectacular backdrop.
The awesome Grand Canyon is easily reached on a day trip. Take a helicopter ride over it for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you can tolerate the heat, head to incredible Death Valley, which has the highest recorded temperature of 57 degrees C.
Or, what about a trip to Area 51 which is 83 miles NW of Las Vegas, and the town of Rachel on the ‘’Extra-terrestrial Highway?’’
