EXAMPLE ITINERARY:
Day 1:
You'll be met at the airport and transferred to Springlands Hotel in Moshi for the night.
Day 2:
Marangu Gate (1828m) to Mandara Hut (2743m)
Hiking time: 4 hours
Habitat: Montane forest
Leave Moshi town at 9am, which is a 45 minute drive to Marangu Gate, located on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. Paperwork and registrations will be done at the park gate. At 10:30am, you'll begin hiking. You'll reach Mandara Hut around 2.30pm where you will have the time to rest & relax before enjoying dinner in the evening.
Optional: You might want to visit Maundi Crater, a 15 minute walk away from Mandara Hut. It offers vistas of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.

Day 3:
Mandara Hut (2743m) – Horombo Huts (3720m)
Hiking time: 6 hours
Habitat: Heathland
An early start today! Walk through lower heathland; when you stop for lunch there are magnificient views of Mawenzi. Arrive at Horombo Huts at 3pm. Spectacular views of Kibo Summit.
Day 4:
Horombo Huts (3720m)
Acclimatisation day at Horombo.
Give your body chance to acclimatise. Walk around & explore the area. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 5: Horombo Huts (3720m) – Kibo Huts (4703m)
Hiking time: 7 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
Another early breakfast today! The first part of the hike you will traverse the upper heathland with a stop for lunch. Then cross the vast saddle...an alpine desert, lunar like landscape that connects Mawenzi and Kibo.
Start your epic Kilimanjaro holiday:
Day 6: Summit Day (5895m)
Hiking time: 7 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
At midnight, have a light breakfast and get ready for your ascent to the summit. It's a really early start in order to reach The Uhuru Peak in time for sunrise. You should reach Gilman’s Point (5685m) at around 7am which offers striking views of the crater due to its location on the Crater Rim. Then, at around 8:30, you will reach The Uhuru Peak at 19,340ft . An INCREDIBLE achievement!
Begin your descent back to the Kibo Huts, cross the saddle & head back to Horombo Huts where you will spend the night.
Day 7: Descent from Horombo to the Marangu Gate
After breakfast make your way back to Mandara Huts, with a stop here for lunch. You will reach the park gate around 2/3 pm. You will then be transferred back to Moshi Springlands Hotel.
Relax, sleep, have some beers-you've earned it!

When To Go
Technically, you can climb Kilimanjaro all year round, but here are our recommendations:
JUNE-OCTOBER: BEST TIME usually dry and clear skies. Quieter.
NOV-DEC: Rain. Visibility might not be as good.
JAN-FEB: Good visibility. BUSY as holiday season.
MARCH-MAY: Avoid due to wet, wind and snow. Visibility might not be as good.
Travel Time
It is easiest to fly into Kilimanjaro airport (KIA) (indirect flight from the UK).
Or, you can fly into Dar Es Salaam (DAR) and then fly to Kilimanjaro airport.
We recommend arriving several days before your trek begins.
Average travel time: 15 hours & 35 minutes.
