What Is there to do in Battambang?

In the late afternoon head to the summit of Phnon Sampeau and enjoy the vista. You will see Crocodile mountain in the distance, the one-time stronghold of the Khmer Rouge. Half-way down the summit are the killing caves of Phnon Sampeau. A clear example of Cambodia’s dark history, but now a place of pilgrimage. At the bottom of the hill at dusk people gather, grab a can of Angkor beer and wait for an amazing spectacle. When the light starts disappearing a huge column of millions of bats burst from a cave to head to their feeding grounds.

Battambang Holidays

In the Wat Kor area you will come across traditional Khmer wooden houses. For a small donation you can have a tour around a house and its attractive garden. You will drive past Wats and giant Buddha statues will suddenly emerge so make sure your camera’s ready!

Day 1: Fly to Phnom Penh from the UK (International flights are included)

Day 2: Transfer to your hotel. Rest of day at leisure in Phnom Penh.

Day 3: After breakfast, your guide will meet you and give you a tour of the capital. First stop is the shimmering Royal Palace, followed by the Silver Pagoda. After a coffee break see Khmer art in the National Museum. After lunch visit the harrowing Genocide Museum.

Later in the day enjoy a walk along the Mekong River.

Day 4: Enjoy breakfast before the morning drive to Battambang, located in the north-west of Cambodia. On route, visit a traditional floating village by boat, as well as a local pottery village.

Day 5: Experience the real Battambang. Enjoy a tuk-tuk tour around the Cambodian countryside. In the afternoon, visit a local vineyard and enjoy a glass or two!

Day 6: Drive to Siem Reap (3 hours). Afternoon at leisure.

Day 7:Explore the incredible Angkor Wat Temple complex. In the afternoon, witness rural life on a vintage army jeep tour around the beautiful countryside surrounding Siem Reap. In the evening be entertained by the Phare Circus.

Day 8: Visit the stunning Banteay Srei, carved from red sandstone.

Head to a local market and cook some Khmer dishes with a chef.

In the afternoon explore Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm and Bayon temple.
