Visit Brisbane
Spend several days exploring the delightful city of Brisbane. We recommend you spend your first morning walking along the South Bank cultural precinct. Sit on a bench underneath the shade of the trees watching the rowers on the river and the striking Ibis birds scurrying along! Then spend a few hours enjoying the Queensland Museum and Queensland art gallery, admiring the modern art pieces.
Enjoy lunch in one of the many cafes and restaurants then hit the shops! Next day take a tour of the Roma Street Gardens and stop for a picnic. Spend the afternoon at the largest koala sanctuary in the world with lots of Australian species to admire. For a day trip out of Brisbane stop off at the world famous Australia Zoo founded by the late Steve Irwin and see the unusual landscape of the nearby Glasshouse mountains.

The Great Barrier Reef
This giant reef, made up of thousands of reefs and hundreds of islands runs 1400 miles along the coast of Queensland. See incredible marine life on this once in a lifetime voyage. Join a tour from Cairns or Port Douglas. I snorkelled and tried scuba diving on a trip from Cairns…what I didn’t expect is how far out the reef is, it took us several hours to reach. The sea life was out of this world and it was fantastic to see sting rays and a reef shark! I recommend bringing a Go-Pro to capture this vibrant undersea ecosystem.
Cairns & The Tropical North
Driving in a campervan from Brisbane up to Cairns or Port Douglas is a real adventure. Pass through endless red fields of sugarcane, stunning hinterland villages and waterfall driving routes. Enjoy long deserted beaches; watch out where you swim though! Have a drink in a local pub, enjoy stopping off at random sites e.g. the giant mango! Stop off at the mountainside village of Kuranda for a fantastic trip on a steam train through the rainforest or take a trip in the cable car. Arrive at the tropical city of Cairns and enjoy a walk along the boardwalk (just don’t stick your feet over!). Catch a boat tour and fish for mud crabs then spend the evening at the night markets. Cairns is a great gateway for a Great Barrier Reef Tour.
