What Can I Do In Quito?

Explore the narrow streets of one of the most preserved historic centres in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Walk past fantastic colonial architecture; beautiful churches, historic mansions and monasteries.  Rest for a while in one of the leafy plazas and watch the world go by. We recommend joining a walking tour of the Centro Historico.  There is a real fusion of old and new here. Baroque architecture is surrounded by trendy restaurants and modern skyscrapers.

Start your holiday to Ecuador & Quito! Most people fly into Quito, making it a fantastic place to spend a few days, getting acclimatised.  Join an escorted tour, hire a car, fly to the Galapagos or the cloud forest.  There are so many options for an itinerary to Ecuador, which we would be delighted to help with.

Head to the huge Neo-Gothic church of Basilica del Voto Nacional. Fancy a unique experience?...climb the steep steps and ladders up the tower for an incredible vista of Quito!  Believe it or not...there's a little cafe in one of the towers where you can grab a drink! Have a look at the gargoyles, they are a bit different!

Fancy getting away from the sounds of the city? Hop on the cable car, TelefériQo, on a quick journey up to the mountains.  Head to the lookout platform to admire the views, join a hiking trail or even go horseback riding next to grazing llamas.  There's also a high altitude 10km route to the summit of Rucu Pichincha. It's a tricky trek near the top, so only pursue if you have spent several days acclimitising in Quito.

Feeling hungry? Try an Empanadas de Viento in Quito (Wind Empanadas)...these fried cheese 'pasties' are one to try!  Follow this up with a cup of warm canelazo, this cinnamon sweet alcoholic drink packs a punch!
